Bell pepper
Capsicum annuum
Bell pepper is a bell-shaped vegetable and is a sub variety of the capsicum annuum family. Bell pepper grows best in a temperate climate of about 21 to 29°C. The vegetable is sold both in its immature green state as well as in its red, yellow, or orange ripe state. Its species are native to the Americas, where they have been cultivated for thousands of years. The bell pepper is the only member of the Capsicum family that does not produce capsaicin like hot capsicums (commonly known as chillies) and is therefore also labelled as sweet pepper. Bell Peppers are highly nutritious. They have more Vitamin C than orange, and a typical bell pepper contains more than 100% of the daily recommended value for Vitamin C.
Dried bell pepper is available as flakes, granules and powder.
